Blackstone Hosts Second Annual Invitational Fishing Tournament
MIAMI, FL –April 30, 2007--- More than 60 participants gathered at Miami Beach Marina, on Friday, April 27th organized and hosted by Blackstone Calling Cards, the Second Annual Invitational Fishing Tournament drew 15 competitive fishing yachts and more than 90 registered anglers, including top distributors from around the country. The tournament followed IGFA rules and carried minimum weights for all eligible species. The tournament kicked off Friday at 9:00 a.m. following a “welcome breakfast,” picture session and a rules and regulation briefing. Tournament participants included Convergia, ADMA, Page Plus, CVT, Next, Direct Wholesale, Cingular (now AT&T) and STI. Prizes included I-Pods, digital cameras, a Rolex watch, laptops and trophies. Serving within the first half hour after lines went in the water, the Wild Life called in the first catch and release of the day. A 70-pound tuna was caught by one boat. After weigh-ins, and more photos, points were tallied up and it was time for prizes. Held at Monty’s, right on the dock, prize giving began. Calling this year’s tournament a “Great Success,” Vice President of Blackstone, Carlos Rodriguez, thanked all sponsors for their support including Blackstone’s marketing team, captains and mates of all participating boats and all participants who attended. Captain Jim Puller skippered the anglers of Blackstone’s 65 ft Donzi. Captain Jimbo Thomas skippered the winning Thomas Flyer boat with ADMA anglers to an overwhelming victory in the 2007 Second Annual Blackstone Fishing Invitational. Coming in second place was the Wild Life. The Lisa L took third place with 80 points. Wild Life also boasted the most number of sailfish caught. The largest Kingfish was caught by Luis Luces of ADMA Telecom. The tournament was hosted by Captain Dan Kipnis.
