BLACKSTONE ONLINE SELECTS HYPERCOM EPIC ICE CARD PAYMENT TERMINALS AS PLATFORM FOR NEW POS PREPAID SERVICES ACTIVATION PROGRAM
(Hypercom Corporation: NYSE: HYC) -- Blackstone Online, Inc. has selected Hypercom’s ePic ICE card payment terminals as the platform for Blackstone POS and will deploy more than 10,000 Hypercom ePic ICE terminals during the 6 months. Blackstone is one of the nation’s leading providers of pre-paid products and services. Blackstone POS is a new point-of-sale activation program for convenience stores, gas stations and other venues that sell prepaid calling cards.
Under the Blackstone POS program, more than 300,000 merchants will be able to offer their customers an array of prepaid products and services, including calling cards, dial tone, Internet and wireless services, using a single integrated Hypercom terminal and printer. With Hypercom ePic ICE 4000 (SmartICE™), ePic ICE™ 5500 and ePic ICE 6500 touch-screen, menu-driven terminals, merchants can print and activate calling cards, access the Internet, accept smart cards/ATM/debit/EBT (electronic benefits transfer), process MasterCard, Visa, and American Express transactions with electronic receipt capture, and more. This new point-of-sale system also offers web-based reporting, which enables distributors and retailers to access traffic reports for their accounts right over the Internet, knowing instantly which stores are in need of supplies or service.
"Blackstone POS simplifies the sales process by eliminating the need to inventory cards, and offers enhanced credit card security via electronic capture and point of purchase card activation," said Eddie Pena, Blackstone Online president. "Hypercom’s ePic ICE family of products was the only solution that enabled merchants to better target their prepaid calling card sales while reducing their POS equipment investment. Merchants need only one integrated terminal and printer to handle all of their transactions."
"Hypercom’s ePic ICE terminals are the first to integrate fast, secure and reliable card payment capabilities and prepaid service activation," said George Wallner, president and CEO, Hypercom Corporation. "The Hypercom ePic ICE solution goes beyond current magnetic strip activation that requires a separate prepaid calling card activation terminal and a separate printout for the PIN and access number. Hypercom’s solution integrates everything into one package for improved convenience to the merchant and the consumer." ICE terminals are available in a variety of models, each with its own set of unique features and functions. Such features include web interface, color display, and wireless functionality.
