Blackstone (, one of the nation’s leading electronic providers of prepaid telecommunications products and services, announces that the Blackstone POS is “skimmer” proof. Skimming is the implanting of “skimmer” bugs, usually by an employee of the establishment accepting credit cards, into payment terminals to collect the data encoded on the credit card’s magnetic stripe. These bugs are removed frequently, thus preventing a clear pattern as to the location of the skimming. The captured data is then used to manufacture counterfeit cards. Criminals have been successful with this method of skimming, because the majority of payment terminals on average are seven years old and have antiquated, if any, security features. These antiqued terminals are easily opened, the bugs are then placed and the information is captured, all without detection. The end result is that a merchant can lose his processing privileges due to the illegal activities of his employee. The Blackstone POS, utilizing the Hypercom ICE 5500, is made tamper-resistant through various intrusion detectors that deny access to the internal circuitry of the terminal. In the event of an intrusion, the software and tables are wiped out, making the terminal useless. The terminals also employ secure downloads that prevent unauthorized downloads from anyone else but the acquirer or processor with which they are associated. This prevents the downloading of software skimmer bugs. Blackstone has developed the most innovative point-of-sale system. By successfully integrating the processing of all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express & Discover Card) and ATM/Debit cards with the sale of prepaid products into one, easy-to-use POS terminal, Blackstone POS, is revolutionizing the electronic transaction industry. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Blackstone has rapidly become one of the country’s largest providers of prepaid telecommunications products and services with over 300,00 retail locations nationwide. Blackstone POS are trademarks of Blackstone Communications Co., US and foreign patents pending.
