TERRA.COM SIGNS E-COMMERCE AGREEMENT WITH BLACKSTONE
Blackstone (www.blackstoneonline.com), one of the nation’s leading electronic providers of prepaid telecommunications products, announced today the signing of an e-Commerce distribution agreement with Terra.com, the U.S. Hispanic portal of the Terra Lycos network of sites (NASDAQ: TRLY and Madrid Exchange: TRR -www.terralycos.com) to distribute electronic PINs via the www.terra.com website.
According to Mike Acton, Blackstone’s general manager, “Blackstone is thrilled to be part of Terra’s newest e-shopping endeavor, the Tarjetas Telefonicas (long distance calling site) channel. Blackstone will be providing the e-PINs for prepaid long distance available on the Terra.com website. This is Terra.com’s first calling card product and Blackstone is proud to have been selected to partner in this new venture.”
The Virtual Calling Card product is another service that Terra.com offers its U.S. Hispanic audience. This complements Terra’s comprehensive portfolio of unique on-line services such as Sabor Hispano, Envios de Dinero, Centro de Idiomas, Walter Mercado psychic consultations and Compras en USA. Terra.com’s objective is to offer the most complete range of services to the U.S. Hispanic audience. Calling cards and telephone service was the next obvious launch since U.S. Hispanics spend significantly more money on long distance phone calls than the general market.
“In particular, this service, will offer users the convenience of buying their favorite calling cards from the convenience of their computers and more importantly, at a significant discount over retail prices,” adds Victor Kong, Director of E-commerce at Terra.com.
